Welcome to PawLife ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have control over yours and your pet's data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("App") and website.

By using PawLife, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. This policy is designed to comply with the App Store (Apple) and Google Play Store privacy requirements.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide better care for your pets and facilitate household management.

A. User Account Information

Identity Data: Full name, email address, and profile avatar.
Authentication Data: Login credentials managed securely via Supabase (we do not see your raw passwords).
Household Data: Information about partners or family members you invite to your "Household" for shared pet care.

B. Location Data (Background & Foreground)

PawLife requests access to your device's location to enable specific features:

Foreground Location: Used to display your current position on the map when tracking a dog walk.
Background Location: Used to track your walk route and calculate distance even when your screen is off or the app is closed. This data is stored locally on your device and/or our secure servers to generate walk history maps.
Permission Control: You can enable or disable location services at any time through your device settings. If you disable this, the "Walk Tracker" feature will not function correctly.

C. Pet Data (User Content)

We collect specific details about your pets to power features like meal reminders, health tracking, and growth monitoring:

Basic Info: Name, species, breed, gender, color, birth date, and "gotcha" date.
Physical Stats: Weight (including history), energy level, spayed/neutered status.
Medical Records: Vet contact info (name/phone), microchip ID, allergies, dietary restrictions, symptom logs, parasite treatments, and vaccination dates/records.
Photos: Pet avatars, cover photos, and medical/grooming record attachments.

D. Usage & Logistics Data

Pantry & Feeding: Food brands, variants, feeding schedules, current inventory levels, and serving sizes.
Scheduling: Appointment dates (vet, grooming), recurrence rules, and reminders.
Device Permissions: We may request access to your **Camera/Photo Library** (for pet photos/records) and **Notifications** (for feeding/medication reminders).

3. How We Use Your Information

Core Functionality: To calculate feeding streaks, track food usage (pantry tracking), and manage appointments.
Notifications: To send timely alerts for feeding times, upcoming vet visits, or low food inventory.
Collaboration: To sync data between members of a "Household" so partners can see if a pet has been fed.
App Improvement: To analyze usage trends (e.g., popular breeds) to improve our features.

4. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

With Household Members: Any data you enter about a pet is visible to other users you explicitly invite to your Household.
Service Providers: We use third-party services for hosting (Supabase), analytics, and email delivery. These providers are bound by confidentiality agreements.
Legal Compliance: If required by law, subpoena, or legal process.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data only as long as your account is active.

Right to Delete (App Store & Play Store Compliance)

You have the right to request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. You can perform this action directly within the App settings under Profile > Danger Zone > Delete Account. Once confirmed, all your user data, pet profiles, and photos will be permanently removed from our servers immediately.

6. Security

We use industry-standard encryption (SSL/TLS) for data in transit and Row Level Security (RLS) within our database to ensure that only you and your authorized Household members can access your pet's data. While we strive to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

7. Children's Privacy

PawLife is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us immediately.

8. Third-Party Services

Google Maps API: We use Google Maps to provide map data for walk tracking. By using this feature, you are bound by Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Supabase: Our backend infrastructure provider.
